Let’s play a blue bath prank! Here at Kids Activities Blog we admit that April Fools Day is one of our favorite days in the entire year. Although, we have been known to do pranks on the other 364 days {giggle}.
Water Pranks for Kids
I am always on the look out for fun ways to surprise my kids. I love to hear them giggle – love it! A “surprise” prank – or something that is completely unexpected – makes them giggle every time.
Whether you are doing the prank to surprise your kids or helping one of your kids surprise someone else, it is always good to have some easy pranks that don’t take much time or energy…
…or clean up!
That is one reason why we like this prank because it is contained inside your bath tub making it easy to clean afterward.
Blue Water Prank
This always reminds me of the pond water you sometimes see at amusement parks — where it is a startling color of blue. This is even more effective when you have blue bath water in a white tub.
Supplies Needed for Blue Bath Prank
- Cotton Swab
- Gel Food Dye – we used blue
How to Make Blue Water from Facet
Step 1
Find the water aerator, it looks like a metal screen, on the underside of the faucet.
Step 2
Swab the screen with a cotton swab covered with blue gel food dye.
Step 3
Let it dry and if desired repeat for darker color.
Our Suggestions for the Blue Water Prank
- The heavier you apply the dye the brighter your water will be.
- I just used a little bit as we wanted a surprise when the kids turned on the faucet – not blue skin.
- If you want it to be a full tub of water, wait for the first swabbing of dye to dry, come back and add a second later.
Blue Water Prank Results
The kids giggled hysterically as they watched me turn on the water in the tub getting ready for their baths. I played dumb and made them explain what they were seeing which only made if *more* hysterical to a three year old (as if that were possible).
This is perfect for April Fool’s day or just when you want some giggles! Made my day!
Other Ways To Do Water Pranks
- You can change the water to be any color by changing the food coloring. And colored water is not only for water faucets.
- A drop of food coloring can be a great way to make water balloons a little more silly.
- Dap some food coloring on the hose nozzle and make a colorful water slide!
- Just remember to not use dye with any good clothing. Practical jokes are meant to be funny, not harmful. A funny prank everyone can enjoy are the best pranks.
