One thing you ™ll learn about me is that I love to make recycled crafts. I am always saving empty cereal boxes, cardboard tubes, and vegetable cans. I ™m not sure what prompted me to turn a recycled cereal box and juice box containers into a cat and her kittens, but I ™m glad I did! Cute huh??
This is actually a really easy project that the kids will love. I used construction paper, which comes in quite a few colors, so don't be shy about making a purple cat or blue and yellow kittens! Just have fun with it.
Cereal Box Cat and Juice Box Kittens
There are no patterns for this projects because the shapes are all very basic. If you like, you can use pom-poms for noses instead of paper.
You will need:
- Construction paper
- Black marker
- Googly eyes
- Tools: clear tape, glue stick, white glue, scissors
Be sure that your juice boxes are empty. A grown up can widen the straw hole with scissors or a kitchen knife to make sure all the liquid has been expelled. Give it a rinse and drain. Once dry, cover the opening with tape.
Use construction paper, glue stick and clear tape to cover the cereal box and the juice boxes completely.
Cut triangles from construction paper for the ears. Cut smaller triangles from pink construction paper and glue stick them to the ears.
Attach ears to the cat and kittens. Cut tails from construction paper and attach with glue stick or tape. For mama cat, I also attached paws to the front of the box.
Cut triangle noses from pink paper and glue stick to the cat and kittens. Use a marker to draw smiles, whiskers and eyes. You can also attach googly eyes with white glue. I also used the marker to add tabby stripes to the orange cat and kittens.
Make some of the kittens awake and some asleep. Change the shapes of their tails, have some laying down and others sitting up. Have fun with it!
