It’s a nice way of showing someone a little love without spending much money. DIY GIFT IDEAS: HOLIDAY BATH SALTS

This recipe is super easy! It just takes a few simple ingredients and very little time. If you have some extra mason jars, airtight glass container or glass jars, a couple of cups of epsom salt, coarse sea salt, some drops of essential oil, and a little bit of food coloring, then you’re almost ready to make this homemade bath salts recipe.

We love making our own DIY bath salts for a relaxing bath – it’s a great way to know exactly what we’re using on our bodies. Not only that, but they make for great DIY gifts for the holidays, teacher appreciation week, or Mother’s day.

Do you know what the benefits of Epsom salt are? Epsom salt is used to help relax sore muscles, muscle aches, and relieve pain in the shoulders, neck, and back. Some researchers also think that magnesium sulfate is good for reducing inflammation, which makes these bath salts perfect to use in a warm bath after a long day. With a glass of wine and some rose petals, of course! Is there a better self-care routine to relax after a busy day?

You can use a combination of essential oils for your favorite scent – we love using drops lavender essential oil on its own or mixing a couple of drops of lavender essential oil and some drops of peppermint essential oil, this last combination is perfect for bath time before going to sleep.

Besides, if you don’t like the smell of synthetic fragrance that many store-bought products come with, making your own blend is the way to go.

Isn’t this little jar just so cute and festive?

Ingredients

Feel free to double this depending on the size of your container. This recipe fits perfectly in these cute little jars I picked up at Hobby Lobby. (I love that it comes with a little wooden scoop.)

  • Glass jar or container
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 10 drops of food coloring (depending on the shade you want)
  • 10 drops of essential oils (again, depending on how strong you want the smell)

To make it, mix the soda and salts together in a large bowl. Then add the coloring and lastly the oils.

That’s it! The oil I used for this was Stress Away. It is one of my absolute favorite essential oils smells ever. It might sound silly, but it just makes me happy. I feel like it’s a total mood booster for me.
