Get kids of all ages involved in this origami Christmas tree. After you are done, you can use your paper Christmas trees to decorate your Christmas table, on the mantle or add it to your Christmas card.
Christmas Tree Origami Step-by-Step Instructions
Folding origami is the craze at the moment! Origami is a magical craft that turns flat paper into something amazing like this Christmas tree craft. Make multiple origami Christmas trees in different sizes to display together. Not only do they make beautiful decorations, but they are also a great way to relax after a long day.

Making these origami models of Christmas trees are so much fun and you only need a little bit of creativity and patience, and a sheet of square paper. You can use origami paper that you can buy in any craft store or simply use any green paper you have at hand. We just know you’re going to have a great time making this easy Christmas tree.

Christmas Tree Origami Craft Supplies
- Green 6 inch square origami paper
- Pair of scissors
- Optional: glue on sequins for ornaments or glitter for tinsel
Instructions to make a Christmas tree origami craft
Step 1
Fold the piece of paper in half.
Step 2
Open then fold the other way in half.
Step 3
Flip over and fold diagonally.
Step 4
Open and then fold opposing corners diagonally.
Step 5
Bring corners together, letting sides fold inward at creases to form a square.
Step 6
Squash fold to form a kite from each of the four outside corners.
Step 7
Cut off the bottom corners along the horizontal border of the kite, leaving a triangle shape.
Step 8
Make four cuts along each side of the triangle, about two-thirds of the way towards the center for each cut.
Step 9
Fold the bottom corner of the outer edge of each cut to the inner end of the top of the cuts above to form the triangular tree ‘branch’.
Step 10
Repeat for each cut.
Step 11
Now do the same for the remaining seven outside folds.
Step 12
Fan out the eight folds evenly for a cute Christmas tree that will stand upright!

This craft tutorial is awesome enough as it is; I don’t think you need to change anything. However, if you want to make it even more original or festive, Christmas themed wrapping paper works great too.
In fact, you can also try using larger paper for larger Christmas trees! Glue on sequins to make it even more vibrant.
