Step 1

After gathering supplies, invite children to glue a base for their spider’s web with craft sticks. Kids can make any shape they want including a right angle, a square, a triangle, or a criss-cross.

Step 2

While their shapes are drying, children can use scissors to cut long strips of paper. The thinner they cut the strips, the more intricate a spider’s web pattern they will be able to make.

Materials

  • Wooden popsicle sticks
  • White paper or construction paper
  • Black construction paper or craft foam
  • Googly eyes

Tools

  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Using two or more popsicle sticks, kids can glue one or more ends together to create the foundation for the spider web. The simplest design is an L shape.
  2. While the glue dries, kids can cut white paper into strips.
  3. Glue the ends of the strips onto your popsicle stick web foundation.
  4. Using black contruction paper and googly eyes, create a paper spider to live in your paper spider web.
